Tom Petty

Wow. Did I really see Tom Petty in concert last night? It was amazing. The music was awesome, the crowd was loud, and Stevie Nicks even joined in for a few songs. They called it the Homecoming Concert. Tom Petty, being from Gainesville, hadn't performed here for 13 years. The concert sold out in the first half hour that tickets were available. They were going for $60 but then the closer the concert got, the higher they went on Ebay (nothing under $200!). Joel called me a couple of hours before the concert and said he was picking me up in half an hour so we could get dinner before seeing Tom Petty. I was shocked!!! A friend of ours hooked us up with free tickets! Its all about who you know in this town.

A Summary
I've been missing from the world of blogging for a few weeks now so I thought I'd give my devoted readers (all 3 of you) a summary of Life with The Searby's....

1. We have really found some great friends in Gainesville. We had about 10 people over for a Labor Day Pool Party and BBQ. It was a mix of people from Church and the Hilton. Then, last night we went to a friends house for the Florida-Tennessee Game. Go Gators!

2. Joel is loving his job. It is taking up a lot of time right now, but only 50 more days until the elections are over. He's really stepping up and becoming a leader.

3. Church is great. Harvest is growing, Charlie is settling in, people are complaining less, and I'm volunteering in the office a couple afternoons a week.

4. The Hilton is good. I really love the people I work with and am really torn between moving up into a fulltime position there or taking on more responsibilities at church.

5. Jack, our cat, loves life. He chases lizards when they get in the house and then is so proud of himself when he catches one.

6. We have a houseguest right now. Jared Johnson is staying with us and working with Joel until the election season is over.

So, Life is good. We even ate at Zaxby's today.....
a Zaxby's Zalad is always something to look forward to.
